 Our Approach

permeability model-2.jpg

We don’t have a house style, with every project addressed on its own merits. Strong communication is critical to this approach, and we work hard to understand our clients’ precise needs and aspirations. This way of working ensures that the end result is perfectly crafted around the individual and the place.

Our Professional Service

Rider Stirland Architects act with honesty and integrity at all times.

We are guided in our professional conduct and work by The Architects Code, giving you peace of mind and assurance of quality.

Process

Our process is split into simple stages based on the RIBA Plan of Work. Each stage has a clear milestone and we walk our clients through every step from start to finish.

Brief

The briefing process is critical.  This is our first opportunity to listen to you, understand your requirements, aspirations and overall vision.  We spend time during this phase asking questions to expose any unconsidered or unconscious objectives.

Concept Design

Through this phase we apply our rigorous design methodology and experience to create a series of concepts and solutions which best respond to your objectives whilst being thought-provoking, considered and intelligent.

Developed Design

Through close collaboration we develop your preferred concept into a distinct design, bringing to life your aspirations. Planning applications are typically made at this stage, and we can advise you on the best approach.

Technical Design

By collaborating with others, be it engineers, technical advisors, or a quantity surveyor, we are able to produce coordinated technical drawings and specifications that will be used to price the works and construct the building.

Construction

We will prepare the building contract and carry out regular site inspections. We make sure that work is done properly, deal with any queries, and certify payments due. Our involvement manages your risk throughout the build, and helps to ensure that you get the best value for your project.

Handover

When the project is ready to handover we inspect and certify Practical Completion. Latent defects are monitored over the following months and any remedial works instructed before we certify the final payment to the contractor.

Fees

We will always agree our services and fees in writing before starting work on a project. Fees are tailored to suit the specific requirements, scale and complexities of each project.
