Barry Stirland

Founding Director
BArch (Hons) MArch DipArch RIBA

Barry is a qualified architect and founding director of Rider Stirland Architects. He enjoyed studying under a variety of distinguished tutors during his formal training at the universities of Nottingham, Bath, and Westminster, and relishes new opportunities to continue his professional development. For the nine years prior to setting up Rider Stirland Architects, Barry worked for the renowned architecture and interior design studio, Project Orange, where he was an Associate leading a variety of hotel and residential projects. He is experienced in designing private houses, having completed a number of highly personal homes, and also working at a much greater scale, dealing with large client bodies and on projects which require complex statutory approvals.

Barry’s work has been widely featured in publications such as the Architects’ Journal and online with Dezeen. As the project architect for Rathbone Market, a 216-home development in Canning Town, it was gratifying for the project to win the Development of the Year category at the 2017 Sunday Times British Homes Awards. Above all, Barry has a passion for the craft of architecture and believes that good design can make a significant difference to our quality and enjoyment of life.
